Pros and cons of hammock camping-

 Pros: 

1. Less weight and space. Imagine your going backpacking, you bring a tent, and a ground pad. think of how much space that takes up. A hammock and a rainfly would take up about as much space as your run of the mill ground pad would, and in about half the weight of a tent

2. Cost. Now this one depends on the brand you buy. I will recommend ENO as a startup brand. but I have seen people spend $200-$300 on a good tent. If you get the basics you could get buy with around $150 ish

3. Comfort. This is my preference. although this also relates to the cost aspect. if you buy a awesome ground pad thats super comfortable that will run you a pretty penny. you could add a easy $100 to your bill especially if you have a bad back. (if you have never slept in a hammock its quite good)

4. coolness. Only Badasses use hammocks

 Cons: 


1. Space / privacy. Say you need to change on a trip? you can change in a hammock and if you have a rainfly you have some privacy but lets face it. its not comfortable to change in a hammock, squirming like an idiot. thats one occasion a tent would com in handy.

2. No room for gear. simple enough theres no where to put your gear. I put mine directly under my hammock but if i am on an incline water could run down and get my pack wet. ENO has a solution, called an under belly gear sling, (a mini hammock that goes under you to hold your pack) or you can use a good pack cover/ tarp.

3. The most obvious. THERES NOT ALWAYS TREES!!


so if you wanna sleep good, save money, be a badass, and you live in a heavily wooded area then you should consider switching.

Grand Trunk Ultralight hammock review


wow its been awhile since I have been on here. well Ill get Straight down to it. Grand Trunk Ultralight hammock. 

What its got going for it
  • As the name suggests, it is very light. 12 ounces to be exact (which is a little under a pound) 
  • Its affordable. I think on amazon they are selling for somewhere between $20-$30. 
  • Personally I liked the feel of the fabric if that counts. 

Cons- 
-The hooks and ropes. Personally I would much rather have carabiners than hooks because then there is no way my hammock can come undone. also ropes are bad for the trees and not large enough to fit around a lot of trees. 
-Its fragile, Think of the math. (you are trying to hold up 4000 ounces with 12 ounces) I used to own one of these myself, and it split straight down the middle because my friend was swinging around in it. it lasted around 2 years and was actually my first hammock. 

How it compares?- 
-To the ENO?- 
Quality and durability wise Eno Destroys this hammock.  

weight? the Single nest is 5 ounces heavier. (not much difference unless your a hardcore backpacker) 

Bottom line- 
My experiences with this hammock were generally good. 
you honestly get what you pay  for and I paid $20, and it lasted me 2 years. so basically $10 a year. (I would take that any day) 

If you got the money id invest in a higher quality hammock ,but if you don't this one is perfectly fine, but keep in mind it will wear so take good care of it and it may last you more than the 2 years i got out of it. cheers! thanks for reading! (if you got this far) I hope this helped.

Hennessy Vs. Eno (The best camping hammocks)


The Best Camping Hammocks ( my opinion) 
An Eno hammock review 
And a Hennessy hammock review 
  
When I hear the words “ best camping hammocks,  my mind instantly jumps to two brands: Hennessy and Eno. Now there’s plenty of other brands of hammocks made for the outdoors like Grand Trunk or Texsport, but these are the two main brands. 
Lets just give you some good FAQs: 
PRICE ( 1 being worst 10 being the best)

You can buy all the gear separately like the rainfly and bug net, or you can get them in package deal. Hammocks prices range between $50-$70 ( without rainfly or bug net).

You have to buy a package deal.You can buy additional accessories if you like. Prices range between $130-$180 

DURABILITY

You would have to really try to break one of these hammocks. They are made from parachute material and can hold 400 lb..

Made of high performance materials.  It can hold roughly 250 lb.. but I’ve heard many say it will actually hold more weight than that.

They have good stuff like the slap straps which are a god sent for both hammocks.

There must be a genius that works in Hennesy. All hammocks include a built in bug net. You can get into the hammock from underneath which is the first of it’s kind. They also have a built in ridge line with a pouch. Furthermore they make a ton of add ons so you can trick out your hammock.

Nothing is perfect but these 2 are very close. Now lets got to the set backs  
ENO-The hammock is separate from the bug net and rainfly which makes it great for just hanging around. You don't have to open the net or duck under the fly. The slap straps are the best hammock suspension I have at the moment but they do sagg. So there is a problem if you are really close to the ground. Otherwise their rainfly’s are very nice. There is no major problems with them. The buggnet also saggs down a couple feet below the hammock. Now if you are high and it docent touch the ground then you can throw stuff in the bottom. So its kinda like your in a bubble. She hammock itself there are 2 types the single nest and double nest. Single is for one person and double is big enough for 2. I know some people who got double nest for more room to move around in. If your looking for a hammock to go back packing in then this may not be it because that parachute material is not very light, plus the bug-net was not made to be light, but still in my opinion better then lugging around a tent.
Hennessy- The bug-net on this hammock is attached to the hammock witch means you are going to have to open and close it when you want to enter or leave. The rainfly that comes with the the Expedition is pretty small so I would upgrade. Hennessy has a selection of rainfly s mine is the oversized hex rainfly that could cover 2 hammocks (ive done it) They even make rainfly s with blast shields which gives you 360 degree protection from the wind rain or any other weather. The hammock itself is very large and I have plenty of room. also as i mentioned previously they have diffrent add ons like over covers under covers, pads, rainfly’s, snake skins (hammock bag so to speak), larger tree huggers (hennesy s suspension system very small so it can only fit around smaller trees) longer tree huggers, and a lot of others. but the zippers on the side opening models can come off and are a pain to get on so be carful otherwise I have not had any issues with mine.
